A morning routine is something very new to me. I used to just wake up and start doing whatever it was I needed to do without taking the time to really wake up and get my day started on the right path. I literally would make coffee and jump right into work. Honestly, I've found that this habit made my day feel so stressful and rushed. About halfway through the day, I would always feel like I needed a nap or a giant coffee to wake myself up and keep going. It wasn't until about two years ago that I really started to create a rhythm with my mornings. I think it's probably one of the most important parts of my day. I know when I don't get to have my morning, I'm usually pretty grumpy so...here it is!
Every morning, I wake up around 8 am (this varies) and the first thing that I do is brush my teeth and wash my face. I usually put on some sort of serum or moisturizer, depending on how my skin feels and what I think it needs that day. I'll let all of that soak in (I never like to put makeup on in the morning, for at least the first hour of getting up) while I go make coffee (or Riker will make coffee) and I'll read (right now, I'm reading Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, lol!) This takes about an hour altogether. Once I've had my coffee, Riker and I, either go on a morning walk around the neighborhood, or I'll figure out if I wanted to work out that day. I try to work out at least 3 times a week but, if I don't get to it, at least I got my morning walk in! ... and that's really about it!
After we do our morning walk, I'll either shower and get ready to go to meetings or a photo shoot, or I'll stay in my pajamas and work from my office!
