Let's talk about balance

April 8, 2019

Hey guys! I just wanted to take a moment to check in with everyone! I haven't been posting very many blogs recently. The main reason was that I've been traveling a lot. Sometimes it's nice to hit the reset button and take time off for yourself and that's exactly what I've been doing.

Over this time off, I've collected a lot of photos and blog ideas that I'm very excited to share with you!

Something that has been on my mind a lot recently has been the idea of balance.

I've noticed, I regularly go through big ups and big downs in my life. I like to go through phases where I either work really hard with no breaks or, the total opposite, where I'm separating my self completely from all my work.

This is why I wanted to start a conversation about balance with you guys. One, because I'm genuinely curious what you all think, and two, because I know it's something I need to work on.

Personally, I think it's important to find balance in your everyday life. If you're anything like me, it can be hard to do this.

Here are a couple of things I've found that help me when I'm in work mode:

1. Stop to smell the roses... Literally.

I started going on a walk every morning, with my fiance, to get my brain in the right place for the day. This moment with nature really helps slow my brain down and energize me creatively before I start working.

2.Taking a real lunch break.

I know this sounds silly because, of course, you take a lunch break. Everyone does right? But I'm talking about really taking a break. Don't look at your phone, just sit down and eat without the distraction of what you have to do next.

3. Create a hard out for yourself.

In my job, because I work from home often, so it's easy for me to work all night. I've learned that making myself have a stop time makes me, 1, more productive and 2, I get the rest I need, so that I can come back the next day ready and not so burnt out.

When I'm in Vacation mode:

1.Talking about what you really want your life to look like.

What are your dream goals? This is something I've always done, but I really noticed it makes me excited to go back to work.

When you're doing something in nature, like hiking or on a boat ride. ..Take a moment to imagine where you want to be 1 year from now ,or 3 years from now, and let that fuel your excitement to get back to work.

2 Take notes.

My notes app on my phone is the best thing I use, when I'm on a trip. I notice most of my best, creative ideas come when I'm happy on vacation, and when I don't write them down, they go out the window. So make a list of the ideas and when you get back to work, you won't feel like you wasted anytime on vacation. If anything, you'll feel like it was even more valuable.

That's all I have for you right now but, I would love to hear how you stay balanced!
